About the Art Dolls

Each of my figures is a completely hand crafted, one-of a kind, original creation.

I sculpt the faces, hands and feet from polymer clay ( usually Prosculpt), hand craft the eyes, design and create the costumes and all the details. Some of the Dolls may have a few purchased elements, all of which are indicated in the individual descriptions.

Custom Cake Toppers

These figurines are wonderful as a memento of a wedding or and also make very special gifts for any number of occasions, such as birthdays, anniversaries,or Quincineras.

They also make outstanding gifts to a Director or Actor for anyone in the Theatre world. The figure can be made to resemble a specific performer , in a costume and pose taken directly from a specific show.

The cake toppers/figures are individually created to your specifications, from photographs you provide. they are approximately 7 inches tall and can be on a base the size of your choosing--usually 6-7 inches in diameter for a cake topper, but anything appropriate for a gift figurine.

Please be aware that these are intended as caricatures, not portraits, though every effort will be made to capture a sense of the person's look and personality.

Prices start at $1500 for a two figure set--each additional figure or pet is $500.

The "Borrower"

This doll was inspired by the Character of Arrietty from "The Borrowers" book Series by Mary Norton. These charming books were my childhood favorites. The Borrowers were a tiny race of creatures who lived beneath the floors or inside the walls of Human Dwellings in late Victorian England, and survived by "borrowing" from their human hosts. Their food, clothing, furnishing were fashioned from whatever could be pillaged from the leavings of humankind-- a dropped glove or handkerchief for clothing; a pill box for a couch.

This moment represents the first time Arrietty was allowed out of doors ever--at age 12!!

Arrietty her is 6 inches tall and thus--life size! I made her clothing from handkerchiefs, and her shoes from a kid glove--just like the "real" Borrowers whould have done. Shoe " buttons" are made from the heads of pins. ( and the shoes actually do fit on her feet and could concievably come on and off)
Price $1800.00

This isn't the best photo of the doll ( it's not bad of the cat!)  but it does give an idea of the scale.  Mr Tumnus is just an average size cat; He isn't very large, though he looks huge here!

Beautiful! The borrowers were one of my favorite books to read as a child as well. I think I need to get them for my kids. Hmmm-are they translated in to German?
